Prof. Nicoleta Suciu and engineer Sorin Suciu were honored in Düsseldorf, Germany, with an Honorary Diploma for their contribution of more than a decade to preserving and promoting Romanian religious folk art.
The Association of Romanian Teachers in North Rhine-Westphalia awarded the distinction to folk artists Nicoleta and Sorin Suciu, teachers of iconography and sculpture within the „Copii Buni pentru Europa” association in Brașov, in recognition of their contribution to sharing religious folk art with young Romanians in Romania and in the diaspora.
The event took place on Sunday, 22 October 2023, during the opening of the exhibition „Iconography and Religious Architecture for Children and Young People”, hosted by the Romanian Church in Düsseldorf. The exhibition concluded a four-day project in which two groups of pupils from the local parish school took their first steps into the world of glass icons and church architecture together with the folk artists from Brașov.
The project was warmly received by the audience present in the Romanian Church in Düsseldorf and celebrated Nicoleta and Sorin Suciu as dedicated keepers of Romanian tradition and spirituality.
