Parish Education Gala
Published on 6 July 2025

On Sunday, 6 July 2025, the Parish Education Gala took place at the Düsseldorf parish.
The event opened with the closing ceremony of the catechetical program „First Confession”. Children who had turned seven and attended the parish school courses gave moving testimonies about the value and strength of Christian courage. In turn, they received the community's joyful witness of having them in its midst.
This was followed by a moment experienced for the first time in the community's history: the graduation ceremony of the „Sfântul Nicolae” Sunday School in Düsseldorf. The teenagers who successfully completed the parish school courses, including children who had attended them for 14 consecutive years, were honored through a special program in which the community showed appreciation and admiration for their effort to acquire fundamental knowledge of Romanian language and culture and Orthodox religion.
After the screening of a film with special moments from the 14 years of Sunday School activity, created by teacher Simona Pop, the graduates of the „Sfântul Nicolae” Parish School received graduation diplomas and an invitation to become school volunteers.
The Düsseldorf parish thanked the teachers of the Association of Romanian Teachers in NRW, who are actively involved in supporting the parish school. The message of thanks was delivered by Dr. Laurențiu Benga, vice president of the parish council.
Archpriest Dr. Iosif Cristian Rădulescu read a message of thanks and congratulations from His Eminence Dr. Serafim Joantă, Metropolitan of Germany, Central and Northern Europe, addressed to the teachers of the Association of Romanian Teachers in NRW. In the message, His Eminence expressed deep appreciation for the effort and fruits of this long-standing work.
At the end of the event, the entire community was pleasantly surprised by the gesture of 16 entrepreneurs from the Düsseldorf parish, who supported the „Sfântul Nicolae” Parish School in Düsseldorf and the Association of Romanian Teachers in NRW through a joint donation. The association is deeply involved in this educational project, which is essential for preserving and promoting Romanian identity.
„Today's entire event was an outpouring of grace upon our parish. I do not believe there are words to express the joy felt by the soul when it sees so many forces united to powerfully support God's work. All these wonderful people, teachers, parents, children, and entrepreneurs, who through their concrete gesture of support showed such appreciation and interest in the values of the Romanian soul, are living proof that goodness echoes in hearts in love with beauty and with God. I am overwhelmed by so much dedication and involvement”, Archpriest Dr. Iosif Cristian Rădulescu said with emotion.
6 July 2025 remains in the history of our parish as a day of witness to the power a community has when it is attentive to the needs of the children who will shape tomorrow's world.
